ATA 2012 Literary Committee is working very diligently to bring forth a very exciting program that will be a true reflection of our literature and heritage. We have a fantastic line up of programs including Avadhanam, interactive forums, and presentation of literary work by writers, among others. We have confirmed the availability and participation of the following very well accomplished individuals who made tremendous contributions to Telugu Literary world.

Smt. Balabhadrapatruni Ramani, a very well known writer has given her consent to join us for the ATA convention. Among the contemporary woman writers, she is the only one who made a name for herself in the print media, Television media, Film industry, and the Digital media. She received numerous awards including Andhra Pradesh state government's prestigious Nandi award for her work on the movie "Madhu masam". She also penned the story and dialogues for "andari bandhuvayaa", a critically acclaimed, award winning movie. She has also written several daily serials for the Television. She has written numerous commercial novels such as “Leader”, “Repallelo Radha”, and “madhuramaina oaTami”. She is a prolific speaker, yet very down to earth! She was recently appointed a member of the Film Censor Board.

 

“Maha Satavadhani” Dr.Garikapati Narasimha Rao, will be joining us for an ashTavadhanam. No stranger to the American Telugu community, Dr.Garikapati has performed numerous avadhanams across the globe. He has performed over 150 avadhanams to date. Dr. Garikipati has been awarded titles such as Satavadhhana Geeshpati, Avadhana Sarada, and Dharanaa Brahma Raakshasa. His series of lectures on “sAhityamloa hAsyam” remain very popular and have gone viral on the internet. He has also given numerous pravachanams on various scriptures and literary works.

 

Sri Goreti Venkanna, a very popular poet and singer of “pada sAhityam” will be joining us at the ATA convention. Sri Venkanna needs no introduction as he is a well known artist in the Telugu Television world as an anchor and judge for numerous programs, one of which “Rela re Rela” for Maa TV. “palle kanneeru peDutoandi”, a very popular song is written by Sri Venkanna. He is the recipient of the “Kalaratna award for Literature” from AP State Government. He also penned lyrics for numerous films.

 

Sri Kiran Prabha, editor of Koumudi and a very well known writer and poet also accepted our invitation to join us. Koumudi is one of the most widely read Telugu online magazines. Sri Kiran Prabha has been very creative with the use of digital media to promote our culture and literature and is pioneering the future of our literature in the digital world. In addition to his literary pursuits, he also hosts several Telugu Radio programs and has interviewed numerous film personalities and writers.

 

Dr.Krishna Vaddepalli is a renowned poet, writer, and short film director who has plenty of expertise in different forms of media including print, radio, television, and film industry. He started his literary journey in 1968 as a writer of “Lalita geetalu” for Akasavani, with the blessings and encouragement of Dr.C.Narayana Reddy. With encouragement from “Natasamrat” Dr.Akkineni Nageswararao, Dr.Vaddepalli entered the film industry as a film song writer. Over a period of 40 years Dr.Vaddepalli penned various forms of literature, including kavitalu, lalitageetaalu, naatikalu, gaeya naatikalu, gaeya kathaa kaavyaalu, and kathaanikalu. In the recent past Dr.Vaddepalli spent five years as a central film censor board member and as a judge for the Nandi awards conferred by the Andhra Pradesh state government. He also appeared as a judge on the popular TV Show “Paadutaa Teeyagaa”.

 

Sri Suddala Ashok Teja needs no special introduction to the Telugu music lovers. He started writing lyrics since childhood. He drew inspiration from his father Late Sri Suddala Hanumanthu gaaru, a great praja kavi. He became popular for his lyrics from the movies “Osey Ramulamma” and “ninne pelladutha” during the 1990’s. He won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics in 2003 for his song “Nenu Saitham” in the movie Tagore. Apart from being a prolific writer of inspirational and message oriented songs, Sri Ashok Teja also writes popular commercial songs. To date, he has written over thousand songs. He published “aakupaccha cheera”, a book containing 108 of his songs.
