Jhummandi Naadam (Vocal Competition)

ATA 2012 is collaborating with Telugu One Radio on the Internet (TORI) to host a vocal competition . "Jhummandi Naadam” is an exciting opportunity for Telugu youth in North America to showcase their musical talents at the 2012 ATA Convention (July 6-8) in Atlanta, Georgia."

It is a solo vocal competition featuring Telugu film music. Initial rounds of competition will be conducted through a vigorous, multi-stage online process. Contestants will be judged against their peers in each of three age categories.

The semifinals and finals will take place at the convention in Atlanta on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8 respectively.

The winner of each category will perform during the convention's prime time event on Sunday, July 8 accompanied by live Tollywood orchestra.

Congratulations to the following participants who made it to the Semi Finals which will held at the convention on Saturday, July 7 between 2 and 5 PM.

To the winners: For semifinals, you are required to sing any Telugu song composed by Ilayaraja with music track.

Three of the semifinalists in each age group will move on to the finals.

For the finals, which will be conducted on Sunday, July 8, you are required to prepare two songs; one from any movie before 1980 and another one released after 2000. The judges will ask you to sing one of the two songs that you selected.

Remember to bring your karaoke tracks for both the rounds

NOTE: There was a tie in children (8-13) category, hence 9 are selected to the next round.

When we sent information to the initial list of participants who made it to the 2nd round, we advised them to inform us if they can not attend the convention. Anyone who can not attend the convention is no longer allowed to stay in the competition. So, we had a few drop outs and we felt that we should give the opportunity to the next best ones on the scoring sheet if they can attend the convention. That is the reason why you see some names which were not in the 2nd round list, appreared in the semifinal list.

In fact, if anyone on the semifinal list can not make it to the convention, he/she will be disqualified and we will take the next best contestant on the list.
